CDC established Entrepreneurship Academy with supervision on IREX.

Please see in the attached document a short program description, resource requests from universities, and questions to consider from our training partner, the University of Central Missouri. There would also be a short survey for you to consider (attached), that would help us to define what training topics would be of interest.

Program Description:

The Entrepreneurship Academy provides institutions of higher education in Iraq with business development training to equip young entrepreneurs with skills to generate income within the current Iraq context. Specific trainings that will be offered will include web-based, mobile application, and entrepreneurship/small business topics. Universities will open entrepreneurship academies, to be housed in their career centers, which will provide these trainings for students and young entrepreneurs.

Timeline, Participation and Selection:

The program will involve two tracks, with the first being a series of online training modules for SPU and the other university participants. These would take place before the in-person sessions; the in-depth U.S. based in-person training is currently tentatively planned for July 10th - 28th, 2017.

We welcome your recommendations for the individual to participate in the U.S. based session; IREX and University of Central Missouri will weigh in heavily on selection as well so feel free to send several CVs. Keep in mind that the individuals recommended should have one or more of the following: Web development, mobile application development, and/or small business development skills, as well as excellent leadership, management, and interpersonal skills. English language skills are essential as well.

Resource Requests from Universities:

CDC have to provide space, two staff members, and some infrastructure such as computers & other equipment in order to establish the Entrepreneurship Academy within your career center. Equipment could include an android and iPhone for demonstrations and training purposes.
